Referral Process

Our referral process is simple

The referral process for young people attending Running Deer School is as follows:

  1. Initial enquiry received by Running Deer School
  2. Arrangements made for a pre-consultation, on-site visit to Running Deer by parents (and child).
  3. Following a successful pre-consultation visit to Running Deer, parents need to express their preference for Running Deer School to the Local Authority.
  4. Local Authority will send a formal consultation out to the school which must include the latest EHCP and other vital information.
  5. The school will make an informed decision based on the visit, the consultation, and capacity to meet the needs of the child.
  6. Once contracts have been signed and funding is in place the student will be given a start date.


Running Deer School accepts enquiries all year around, however visits must be arranged during term time.
